Here is a fascinating interview with the great Australian director Peter Weir. Peter has worked with several wonderful sound designers, including Alan Splet and Richard King. I’m jealous of them all for having had that opportunity, because Peter has such an enlightened attitude about sound. By the way, he tells a story early on of Alan Splet not being able to finish working on Blue Velvet because the material was so dark that it made him physically ill. I was the chap with the iron clad stomach who attempted to fill Alan’s shoes on Lynch’s next film, Wild At Heart.
